Pingdingshan College is located in the well-known industrial city of Central China--pingdingshan. It was built on the basis of the Pingdingshan normal college with the approval of the education administrative department of the state council in 2004??5. Pingdingshan College covers 2145.7mu; construction area is 208,000 square meters. The college is divided into two districts, east district has complete infrastructure, fine scenery and graceful environment. It is a right place for college faculty members to teach, conduct researches and a conducive place for the students to study; west district is near the Baiguishan reservoir, the mountain and by the river, and it is a vast area. The building is rationally distributed, and is close to Luohe-Luoyang expressway. Among this charming scenery lake- district and mountainous area, there is a higher educational institution which shows its potential of sustained development and prospected future.
The principle and idea ??Education to the needs of modernization, the world and the future??, meanwhile it always makes great efforts to improve its own condition for running the College. The library of the College has collected all kinds of books with a total of 624,000 volumes, electronic books 95,000 volumes, it has standardized electronic reading room, electronic document stacks; The total value of instruments and equipments is up to 28 million yuan. The network center is the network center of Pingdingshan city of Henan education and research network.
In terms of improving basic education and developing the economy of Pingdingshan area, Pingdingshan College is continuously expanding itself until now, there are 14 departments including 5 regular major and 26 specialized major in this college. At present, there are more than 7000 full-time students in college and 3957 part-time students (home-study program).
Pingdingshan College has a total of 556 teaching and administrative staffs, among them, 382 full-time teachers, 142 professors or associate professors, high professional title occupies 37.2% and 164 teachers finished master??s and doctor??s degree which has a proportion of 43% among higher-level degree. Among all the teachers, one is honored as ??Outstanding Expert of Henan Province??, seven teachers have obtained Zengxianzi Education Fund, two have won the title ??Outstanding Teacher and Educator of China??, ten have the title ??Outstanding Teachers of Henan Province??, eight are main teaching members and leading academy intellectuals of technology in cross-centennial Henan Province. The college has invited 43 academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and Engineering, well-known professors and experts as part-time professors and visiting professors, and also 3 foreign teachers.
Pingdingshan College keeps on improving educational situation through scientific research of courses, and constantly strengthening the research. Therefore it has gained great achievements in the research. In recent years, we have published 247 academic works; finished 343 projects of scientific research above provincial level, among them were 107 items that have been awarded by research institutions of national and local level; All teachers have published 2251 academic theses, among which 400 theses have been published in Key Scientific Periodicals, 11 theses have been taken down by SCI and 9 papers by EI, and over 20 theses have been included by international periodicals or read in international academic meetings for communication, 122 theses have been awarded. The theses published in ??Journal of Pingdingshan Normal College?? have been republished and consulted more than 85% by Renmin University Material Duplicating and Keeping Center; and also by Journals of College and Universities.
